An aspiring author finds herself on the heart of a stranger-than-fiction story in “Kindred,” FX’s long-awaited Octavia Butler adaptation. “I used to be right here, after which instantly I wasn’t right here,” says Dana (newcomer Mallori Johnson) in a brand new teaser for the sci-fi sequence. The younger Black girl is being pulled backwards and forwards between the current day and Antebellum instances.
The spot sees Dana being ripped from her house in LA to a plantation in Maryland, the place she’s chased and bodily attacked. “I don’t perceive what’s taking place to me. Am I loopy?” she asks.
“Kindred” was revealed in 1979.
The recipient of two Nebula awards and two Hugo awards, Butler’s different books embrace “Parable of the Sower” and “Daybreak.”
“Kindred” launches December 13 completely on Hulu. “Zola” writer-director Janicza Bravo helmed the pilot.
