Romania is recalling its ambassador to Kenya after the diplomat allegedly made a remark equating Africans to monkeys at a gathering in Nairobi.

“Any racist habits or feedback are completely unacceptable,” the Romanian International Ministry in Bucharest stated in a press release Saturday. The ministry has “initiated the process of recalling” Ambassador Dragos Viorel Tigau from his publish in Kenya, in line with the assertion.

The ministry “deeply regrets this case, apologizes to all these affected and strongly rejects and condemns any habits and any angle incompatible with mutual respect,” the assertion reads additional.
